Being Present!

Let’s talk about the importance of being present for a minute. I usually find myself always behind the camera (may be the photographer in me..), while this leaves me with great memories to cherish and look back on, some might wonder where I may have been. I am actually not very comfortable in front of the camera, and most comfortable being the one taking the photo. However, it is so important to be present in the photographs. If you have children, they will want to cherish the memories of you and not just of themselves. I was reminded of this importance when I did a collaboration with another photographer. She specifically asked to be photographed with her daughter so that her daughter would know she was apart of her childhood as well. This got me thinking that I don’t have a ton of pictures with my now four year old daughter and would she grow up wondering why I was never there, when in reality I was there for every moment capturing them. Capturing memories is something I really love to do, but I must also practice what I preach and aim to be more of a present in the photographs as well. Here are the memories I am talking about being present for.. Thanks again Shannon!

Gorgeous baby Sophia! Newborn photography by Breann Twamley

I have only had little girls in my studio this year.. where are the boys at??! Anyways, since I've had so many girls I have been trying to keep things new and creative. I absolutely loved this session and these gorgeous kiddos in my studio. This little lady made me work to get her in squishy poses, and only liked to be wrapped, but we got some good ones. What a sweet family to work with! I am obsessed with these images. Here is a little preview of how the session ended up.
